Every couple has a unique style that is all their own. Whether it’s classic, modern, eclectic, sporty or edgy, your couple style is always uniquely you. My longtime boyfriend Parker and I have seen each other’s style change and refine over the years. And while our style today is quite different from what is was when we met six years ago, we love that our styles have come together into a unique vibe that is all out own. Here’s a look at how we plan to rock our Valentine’s Day look this year. Maybe it will give you some ideas for your own couples fashion this season!
One thing that Parker and I have in common is black and white — we love our neutrals. While every once in a while we may add a pop of color for effect, we’re usually garbed in black, white, gray and taupe. Couple that with the fact that both of us prefer street chic and edgy clothing and accessory choices, we generally look like we belong together in any crowd. I like to joke that if we ever lose each other at a concert, I’d just ask if anyone has seen a male, brunette version of me. I bet it would work!
For this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration, we’re planning a pre-dinner cocktail and fab small plates meal downtown (with something chocolaty at the end of dinner, of course!) I love to wear winter whites, so it’s no surprise I immediately reached for this Michael Kors dress with fun perforated flutter capped sleeves. To make it weather appropriate, a simple pair of sheer black hosiery adds another layer to ward off the February chill. And while we love to cuddle up to keep warm, winter weather calls for a chic topper, like this Calvin Klein mixed media coat. I love it both tied and over my shoulders, depending on the wind!
Parker loves to layer, so he opted for a dark gray corduroy pant, paired with a muted print gray shirt, black leather jacket and, his signature — a black sweater tied around his waist. It’s a modern combination of classic pieces that feels fresh and street chic.
Sometimes the bag says it all — and this is definitely one of those times! I can’t get enough of this Michael Kors shoulder bag, which is eclectically chic with its metallic studs and chain strap. It adds just enough edge to my feminine dress. Spiky black booties, statement drop earrings from Relativity and a chain-link bangle complete the look. And Parker simply adds a skinny black tie (with a muted metallic print) and buckled Calvin Klein boots to elevate his look with carefully chosen accessories. A colder than expected night? Add a blanket scarf to his look for cozy chic.
What is your unique couple style? From glamorous to conservative, you’ll find the perfect look for both of you by identifying your style and finding key pieces to make it come to life. Happy Valentine’s Day, all!
