For me, summer is all about comfort. But I also love to look great! Luckily, today’s coolest looks are often some of the most laid-back and casual. That’s what I love about a soft, summer vest. It can be paired with everything from cute dresses to jeans and a blouse or even athleisure-loving joggers and a tank. White, black and tan are my go to vest colors for the neutral simplicity — and this flowy Calvin Klein vest is the perfect addition to my summer closet.
While fall will be all about the structure vest, summer calls for soft, flowy versions that are perfectly compatible with all of your favorite summer wardrobe staples. For this look, I paired this casual vest with crazy-comfortable Ivanka Trump jogger pants and a relaxed Karen Kane tank. For a modern update, I added a front tuck to define the waist and add a unique accent to the otherwise neutral look. This vest could just as easily be worn — and rocked — with a silly dress, distressed denim, ankle-grazing cropped pants or even your favorite pencil skirt.
If you follow this blog regularly, you know I like to keep things simple. And this look is no exception. I love to find jewelry pieces that work together to make the most of the outfit I’m wearing. In this case, a long pendant necklace, chic chain-link bracelet, vertical bar earrings and a white chunky woven Michael Kors crossbody handbag combine to create the perfect amount of shine and pop. But the shoes bring the look together — these street-chic cool peep-toe heels have a leather lace-up detail that is both sleek and ultra sexy. (And did I mention they are incredibly comfortable? Hooray!)
From summer’s cutest dresses to sporty athleisure, sophisticated shapes and cool-girl denim, this season’s soft vests are a fabulous topper to a variety of looks. How will you translate this trend in your wardrobe?
Worried about the bulk the extra layer of a vest may add? Simply make sure your outfit is fitted — a pencil skirt, skinny denim, straight-leg pants, or a curve-hugging dress — to ensure your figure will be properly flattered.
