Who doesn’t love to find a new way to rock a classic? For me, that means updating my favorite little black dress with a 2016 spin. When I’m in need of a New Year’s Eve dress, I never have to look too far: Adrianna Papell usually has the perfect dress for any social occasion. Thanks to sophisticated styling and an eye for editing dresses for the real woman, I’m a Papell devotee. Let’s take a look at how I styled my new favorite New Year’s Eve dress, complete with studded boots and a furry topper! (Because on NYE, too much is never enough.)

The Dress

I am an absolute sucker for an unexpected neckline. So of course, I was immediately drawn to this dress. A combination cold shoulder/sweetheart neckline, this LBD has modern appeal with a charming nod to the past. Plus, a slightly A-line shape is a flattering choice for those who want to hug their curves but not feel constricted by their dress.

Since I spend most of my New Year’s Eve dashing from one party to the next, it’s vital to have a cute jacket to ward off the late December chill. While several styles of coats and jackets will work with this dress — from a feminine wrap coat to an oversize cocoon style — I think NYE calls for a little fur. This Vera Wang jacket is a great option, thanks to its cropped nature and neutral goes-with-everything gray tone. All in all, fur will be flying — in a very chic way!

The Accessories

New Year’s Eve accessories are almost as important as the dress. After all, the accessories are the finishing touches that make your look sing. While my first instinct was to choose a large, drop earring, I decided to have a little fun with a statement jeweled necklace. I love the jet black and clear crystal tones next to the funky neckline of this dress — it’s a statement on top of a statement, in a really fab way. A petite sparkling earring adds just enough ear candy to not compete with the necklace. If you want even more sparkle, add a few bangles!

Booties are my go-to winter shoe, and that does not change on New Year’s Eve. These Michael Kors stunners with an all-over beaded design are a stiletto show-stopper. Add a simple black clutch with a fun bow or metallic detail, and you are ready to party on!

Be the shining stay of your party circuit this New Year’s Eve my trying a contemporary take on your favorite little black dress. And don’t forget the enviable accessories to make sure your look is midnight-kiss ready.
