Q&A with Alissa:

What do your days look like at Bon-Ton?

The thing I love most is that my days are unpredictable and always fast-paced. No one day is exactly like the last. Typically, I work to keep our local search pages current with storewide sales, banners, and content that corresponds with company initiatives—I learn something new each and every day, as the digital world is a constant evolution of new strategies and best practices. I assist our digital specialist with affiliate marketing to get our top offers and sales pushed out to affiliate publisher’s. Specifically, I am solely responsible with pushing out cosmetic gift with purchases to grow cosmetic sales. I have earned the nickname of “beauty queen” with our affiliate vendors, and am consistently keeping up with email communication with a variety of vendors to push overall sales and initiatives.

What do you love about your job?

My team and my boss. I am surrounded by such great people who, in the struggle to keep up with day to day tasks always find time to crack jokes and exchange high fives. It’s the small wins that make it all worth it. My boss truly inspires me and motivates me to want to learn and excel in my field. He cares about his people, and working for someone that I respect so deeply is something I do not take for granted. Aside from my immediate team, we work with so many teams and departments within the company—and building those partnerships and relationships is really my favorite part. I really love that in-between the stressors and hard work, we still find time to exchange smiles and silly emails—the people are what help me love what I do.

What are some activities you love doing on the weekends? At night after work?

I love my city. It’s really growing and expanding and there’s always a new bar, restaurant, or fun event to check out. My boyfriend and I are kind of foodies—we love trying out new craft cocktails & small plates and creating our own little city tours in attempts to find the hidden gems and hot spots that are up & coming. I also LOVE hanging with my family on the weekends—I’m one of six kids, and my family is SUPER close, but as the only sibling in-state I spend a lot of weekends hanging with Mom and Dad, which is one of my favorite things to do. My dad is an avid boater, and summer Sundays are usually spent floating up and down the Milwaukee river enjoying sunshine and giggles. Farmers markets, craft fairs, & local business make weekends full of adventure.

What are some of your favorite products from Bon-Ton you have bought?

SHOES! I can’t get enough. I’m loving booties and chunky heals these days, and we have a GREAT selection of them. Not to mention the awesome prices & sales that come along with them. My Dolce by Mojo Moxy black moto heals & Carlos by Carlos Santana beige fringe booties are my favorite things to rock on my feet. I also love edgy moto boots, they go GREAT with my favorite leather jackets. I love boots that I can dress up or down. I can’t wait for the fall season, just to get to break out my boots again!
