Eyeshadow® Pocket Tee // Hippie Laundry Plaid Shirt // Hippie Laundry Patch Shorts // Calvin Klein Freestyle Saddle Bag // Ruff Hewn Chain Necklace // Circus by Sam Edelman™ Brow Bar Sunglasses // Madden Girl® “Descent” Booties
Calling all my edgy festival-going gals out there: this one’s for you! If you tend to shy away from boho fringe and crochet styles like me, then keep reading to find out how to let your inner rocker shine this festival season. Hint: it’s all in the flannel.
Adding plaid flanel to your look is an on-trend way to sport an edgier festival vibe, with the added bonus of an extra layer when the temps drop at night! I love tying a flannel around my waist as an accessory element during the day, and then layering it on top of my shirt once the sun goes down. To nail this look, choose a color theme and stick to it. I went for a navy/denim scheme here–I chose these fun patched shorts to add a discreet pop of color and to speak to the big patch movement going on right now (patches are everywhere!). These Americana-themed patches would be perfect for 4th of July too…hint hint.
Since I opted to add in the patches and a striped t-shirt, I chose to go minimal on the accessories so as not to overcrowd the look. However, a solid colored tee, tank, or crop top would be the perfect opportunity to rock a statement necklace for some added flair. The Calvin Klein saddle bag is the perfect size for the essentials and a water bottle or snack, so you can have some fuel on hand for dancing all day long. I love the tassel–you have to add a bit of a fringe element at a fest! I topped off the whole look with these fun, blue lens sunglasses; they match my color scheme, shield UVs, and incorporate the brow bar frame trend—triple win.
I hope all my edgier fashionistas out there are feeling inspired with ideas on how to recreate their own plaid flannel look for an upcoming festival this summer. Rock on!
